Writing Guide
A guide to this term's sentence frames, and the 3-part opinion frame that leads into your presentations.
Why this page: your frames grow from describing one thing, to comparing two things, to giving a reason. This page explains the big one — "I think, because, for example." You build this in Week 7 and Week 15, for your Week 8 and Week 16 presentations.
The 3-part frame
"I think ___ because ___. For example, ___."
Opinion: I think dogs make better pets.
Because: because they are friendly and play with you.
For example: my dog runs to the door every day when I come home.
Sentence starters you can try: "I think ___..." or "In my opinion, ___..." · "because ___" or "the reason is ___" · "for example ___" or "one time, ___"
3 steps to build your sentence
1
Pick your opinion first. Choose your side before you think of a reason.
2
Find your real reason. Not "because I like it" — a true reason.
3
Make your example specific. Pick one real moment, not a general idea.
Checklist before you're done
My opinion is clear in the first part.
My reason explains the opinion. It doesn't just repeat it.
My example is one real, specific moment.
Week 7 and Week 15: these weeks you finish this sentence fully. It becomes your Week 8 and Week 16 presentation.
